Ayla Renews Blue Flag and Green Key Certifications for the 2026–2027 Season

 

Ayla Oasis Development Company has announced the renewal of the Blue Flag certification for the 2026–2027 season for Ayla Marina, as well as B12 Beach Club and Mama Gaia Beach Club, alongside the awarding of the Green Key certification for the same period to Mama Gaia Beach club and Silica Restaurant, in a new achievement that reflects Ayla’s steadfast commitment to applying the highest global environmental standards and expanding sustainability practices across its marine and tourism facilities.

The certificates were handed over during a ceremony attended by representatives of Ayla Oasis Development Company, alongside representatives of relevant entities and members of the national Blue Flag committee, including Dr. Thaer Darwish, Board Member of the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan; Dr. Mohammad Krishan of the Ministry of Health and member of the national Blue Flag committee; Dr. Saed Al-Zawaideh of Aqaba Development Corporation and member of the national committee; and Alia Al-Qatounah, Director of the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan and National Coordinator of the Blue Flag program in Jordan.

This year also marks a notable milestone, with one of Ayla’s commercial boats receiving the "Blue Flag” certification for the first time. This development highlights the expansion of sustainability standards to encompass marine operations and associated tourism services.

The certification is granted by the International Jury of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), in collaboration with the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS), the national operator responsible for awarding the "Blue Flag” in Jordan. This recognition underscores Ayla’s adherence to stringent criteria covering water quality, environmental management, public safety, and environmental education.

On this occasion, Eng. Sahl Dudin, Managing Director of Ayla Oasis Development Company, expressed his pride in this accomplishment, noting that the continued attainment of the "Blue Flag” reflects Ayla’s integrated approach to adopting best environmental practices and strengthening its position as a leading sustainable tourism destination at both the national and regional levels.

He added: "This achievement reaffirms our ongoing commitment to applying the highest sustainability standards across all Ayla facilities. The certification of one of our commercial boats for the first time demonstrates our efforts to expand sustainability across all aspects of the tourism and marine experience, ensuring the protection of the marine environment and the safety of our visitors.”

Ayla continues to integrate global best practices in sustainability into its operations, including improving resource efficiency, protecting biodiversity, and promoting environmental awareness among visitors and the local community, in alignment with international standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.

The "Blue Flag” is one of the world’s most prestigious environmental certifications, awarded to beaches, marinas, and boats that meet strict criteria across four key pillars: environmental education and information, environmental management, safety and services, and water quality.

This renewed achievement further reinforces Ayla’s vision of embedding sustainability at the core of its operations and delivering a comprehensive tourism experience, in collaboration with its partners, contributing to positioning Aqaba as a leading eco-tourism destination on both regional and international levels.
